The Diocese of Corpus Christi invites all healthcare professionals to attend the Holy Mass in their uniform—reception with Hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar to follow.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Diocese of Corpus Christi is hosting a White Mass on Thursday, October 16, at 6 p.m. to honor caregivers.
Mass will be held at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, located at 3502 Saratoga Boulevard in Corpus Christi. All medical professionals are welcome to join, including all physicians, practice providers, nurses, therapists, medical assistants, receptionists, lab workers, administrators, and all others working in the healthcare field.Â
Catholic Priest Richard Libby said, “This is the first time it’s been done in several years; we are trying to revive an old practice. The church is there alongside our medical professionals and, of course, all of our people, but in a special way, medical professionals are concerned with healing and bringing comfort to people, and that’s very much the work of the church. We read in the Gospels about Jesus healing people and bringing them comfort.”
Medical Director of Driscoll Health Plan, Dr. Dan Doucet, said, “Medicine is such a rewarding profession, and most days are absolutely wonderful, but every day has its challenges, and that seems to be increasing, not decreasing, with some of the oversight, you have to get out.”
For those attending, they encourage you to wear your lab coat or uniform—reception with Hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar to follow.Â
