Jason Corley is seeking the Congressional seat Jodey Arrington will soon vacate because “We got to do something about the inflation.”
“I graduated from Lubbock Cooper High School in 2001 – graduated from West Texas A&M in 2006,” Corley said.

He worked in oil fields for a decade for Halliburton and other companies.
“I worked in Oklahoma, Eastern New Mexico, South Texas and West Texas in oil and gas,” Corley said.
“Along the way, my wife and I built an online business called RoughneckStuff.com,” Corley said.
An archive of the website – which sold new and used flame-resistant clothing – revealed a TV commercial featuring Corley and the tag line, “You don’t have to pay oilfield prices for oilfield clothing!”
He described himself and his wife as serial entrepreneurs – having done different businesses over the years.
“We rented a building that used to have a dry cleaners in it. Everybody kept bringing us their dry cleaning. So, we set up a pickup service so we could still have a dry cleaner here in Slaton,” Corley said.
“We opened up a pizza place here in Slaton, did that for about two years. … Had a construction business, demolition business, had a welding crew at one time. … I don’t idle well. That’s the worst thing you can do is leave me with nothing to do,” Corley said.
Most folks know him as a Lubbock County commissioner for Precinct 2.
“Christian, a husband, a father – I’ve got a 19-year-old and a 13-year-old. My son’s at Texas Tech, going to school for petroleum engineering. Wife’s an assistant principal at Southland ISD,” Corley said.
Top priority: Inflation
“For all the problems that I’ve dealt with as a county commissioner, the worst problem that I’ve dealt with in the last seven years has been inflation,” Corley said.
Lubbock County voters approved a road bond in 2019 before COVID.
“It is as if we took the money, put it under the mattress, came back and found out that the rats ate 80 percent of it,” Corley said.
Inflation wrecks the county’s budget along with everyone else’s budget on healthcare, drug prices, costs for farmers (like pesticides and fertilizer) and affordable housing, he said.
“Inflation is the root of all of our problems,” Corley said.
He gave the cost of law enforcement vehicles as one example.
“All those items went up in price. Look at the price of Tahoes. Those shot through the roof. Well, it’s the number one cop car in America. Ford Explorers are right behind them. Those went up in price,” Corley said.
Corley thinks federal spending should be cut – starting with foreign aid.
“Stop giving our money to other countries. Let them hate us for free,” Corley said.
Only American citizens and American companies should hold the national debt. As a nation, we should not borrow from China, he said.
Concerning border policy, Corley said, “Donald Trump’s doing a great job of enforcing the laws that are already on the books, which is what should already be done.”
“While we’ve got control of the House, what we need to be doing is get a bill passed that says that border states – that have to defend themselves on the border crisis – may submit once a quarter for reimbursement from the federal government,” Corley said.

On terms limits, he said he personally would only serve for about 10 years. But he said there’s something more urgent.
“If you want to start solving our problems in lobbying, end the practice of lobbying completely. Nobody has any business talking to your congressman except for the constituents of that congressional district. … You shouldn’t be able to buy a congressman,” Corley said.
“Whoever gets elected needs to remember that they are from one of the reddest districts in the entire country. They need to be on the news every night. espousing conservative values and pushing our nation in the conservative direction,” Corley said.
Some Republicans are in swing districts and cannot speak up, he said.
“That’s where we need to be stepping up. We need to be leading this nation as a deep red conservative district,” Corley said.
