The Austin Police Department is investigating the city’s 10th traffic fatality of the year, which occurred in the 10400 block of South I-35 early Tuesday morning.

According to a city press release, police responded to a call about a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at 3:55 a.m. on Feb. 10.

The driver remained at the scene, was not impaired, and cooperated with the investigation. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on scene.

This is Austin’s 10th fatal crash of the year. Anyone with additional information about the incident should contact APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-8111.

The ninth fatal crash of the year happened on Sunday, Feb. 8. Just after 8 p.m., a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper briefly pursued a motorcycle before losing sight of it.

The driver of the motorcycle, 20-year-old Javan Jackson, was later struck in the intersection of East Parmer Ln. and Old Hwy 20. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The eighth fatal crash occurred on Feb. 3. Fifty-nine-year-old Ezequiel Diaz Lopez was the sole occupant of a van that collided with a parked trailer on 1315 Mearns Meadow Blvd. He was transported to the hospital and later pronounced deceased.
