A spokesperson said cones on the flyover are not new and were put there when a metal plate was installed a while back.
AUSTIN, Texas — TxDOT is reassuring the public after a photo went viral on social media showing a supposed “crack” in the flyover connecting U.S. 290 and Interstate 35 in North Austin.
A TxDOT spokesperson told KVUE there are no structural concerns with the bridge. They said these types of flyovers and bridges are designed to expand and contract based on the weather, which can sometimes cause gaps to form.
They also said the cones on the flyover are not new and were put there when a metal plate was installed “a while back.”
