No. 8 Nebraska rallies in fourth, beats top-ranked Texas Tech

  • February 16, 2026

CLEARWATER, Fla. (WOWT) – No. 8 Nebraska rallied with a decisive fourth inning and leaned on shutdown relief pitching from senior Jordy Frahm to knock off top-ranked Texas Tech, 3-2, on Sunday at the Clearwater Invitational.

The victory improved the Huskers to 6-4 and marked their second win this season over a No. 1-ranked opponent after beating Texas on Feb. 7.

Texas Tech, which entered unbeaten, fell to 11-1 on the year.

Down 2-0 in the fourth inning, senior utility Hannah Camenzind hit a double, and junior catcher Jesse Farrell followed with a home run to even the score. According to ESPN, it is the first time the Red Raiders’ senior pitcher, NiJaree Canady, has allowed back-to-back extra-base hits in her career.

Two batters later, senior outfielder Hannah Coor put down a two-out RBI single to give the Huskers a 3-2 lead they would keep for the duration.

Freshman pitcher and Gretna native Alexis Jensen earned the win in the circle, working four innings with seven strikeouts. She allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits.

Frahm handled the final three innings and was flawless, retiring all nine batters she faced while striking out four to collect her third save of the season.

Canady absorbed the loss after surrendering three runs in 4 2/3 innings of work.

Camenzind finished 2-for-3 at the plate, while Farrell’s homer was her fourth of the season.

The win was Nebraska’s fifth all-time over a No. 1 team and the first time in program history the Huskers have defeated two top-ranked opponents in the same season.

Nebraska travels next to the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, where it will open play Friday against No. 20 South Carolina at noon CT.
