A 21-year-old man was killed in a shooting late February 13 in South Dallas, according to the Dallas Police Department.
Officers responded at approximately 10:47 p.m. to a shooting call in the 4600 block of Elsie Faye Heggins Street. The preliminary investigation determined that two men had been shot at the location.
Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and determined that 21-year-old Jackie Jernigan died at the scene. The second man was transported by private vehicle to a hospital. His condition has not been released.

Police said the motives and circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. The case is documented under number 021025-2026.
Jernigan’s death marks at least the 10th homicide victim reported by Dallas police in February 2026, based on publicly released department reports.
