LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Texas Department of Transportation is hosting a virtual public meeting to gather input on a bicycle plan for the Lubbock district.

The meeting begins Tuesday, Feb. 17, and runs through Tuesday, March 17, at 11:59 p.m. CT. Public comments must be received or postmarked by March 17 to be part of the official meeting record.
The virtual meeting will consist of a pre-recorded video presentation with audio and visual components, available on TxDOT’s website starting Feb. 17. Those without internet access can call 214-535-7261 to ask questions and request project materials.
Plan aims to improve bicycle connectivity
The purpose of the meeting is to develop a regional framework as the state works to provide safe, well-maintained facilities for bicyclists within each district and between districts, providing connectivity across Texas.
TxDOT’s Public Transportation Division will lead the effort to develop the bike plan for the Lubbock district. The plan will include an analysis of bicycle infrastructure needs on the state highway system and identify priority locations for cycling improvements.
The plan will also determine what role different routes should play in the bike network and will incorporate public and stakeholder feedback.

The virtual presentation will be available in English, Spanish and American Sign Language. Those needing special communication accommodations or interpreters can request assistance by contacting the TxDOT Lubbock District Public Information Officer at 214-535-7261 no later than 4 p.m. CT on Monday, Jan. 19.
TxDOT said advance notice is requested as some accommodations may require time to arrange.
