FRISCO — Watching games from home isn’t an easy activity when you’re supposed to be out there. Just ask Dallas Cowboys center Cooper Beebe. There has been no casual, sitting-on-the-couch viewing, Beebe said, while watching the Cowboys on the road three of the five weeks he’s been out. The two home games from the sideline haven’t been much easier.
Instead, Beebe has tried to be as active of a participant as he can be while dealing with a foot injury that he suffered in Week 2 against the New York Giants. He said he could hear the hot microphone picking up quarterback Dak Prescott’s call at the line of scrimmage. That would in turn allow him to get off the couch and act like he normally would, identifying the middle linebacker and helping to set the protection for an invisible offensive line in his home.
“I was still kind of in game mode,” Beebe said on Wednesday.
If all goes well, he could be back in the game this Sunday in Denver — even though his 21-day practice window was just opened on Wednesday.

“I’m feeling pretty good. Obviously working through some aches and stuff, getting back in the groove,” Beebe said. “Realistically, based on how I feel tomorrow, we’ll see if I can go this week. If not, for sure next week.”
Beebe has started every game he’s been healthy at center for the Cowboys since he was selected in the third round last year out of Kansas State. Backup offensive lineman Brock Hoffman has started for the Cowboys while Beebe has been out.
While Beebe has been out, the Cowboys’ offense has remained powerful, however. The Cowboys are second in the NFL in scoring through seven weeks and first in yards per game. They’re coming off a 44-22 win over the Washington Commanders on Sunday. They’re also tied for second in the NFL with the least amount of sacks allowed (8).
“It’s been awesome to see the offense just as a whole grow,” Beebe said. “And just the way Dak’s playing, I think Dak is a dude that gets a lot of unwanted hate and just to go out there and prove everyone wrong year in and year out is exciting to see. We’re continuing to grow and we’ll continue to get better.”
If Beebe doesn’t return this week, then it’s expected he’ll return for the Monday night game against the Arizona Cardinals on Nov. 3.
