1. Existing-home sales down over 8%, according to report
Existing-home sales fell 8.4% in January 2026. Month-over-month and year-over-year sales decreased in all regions, according to a report from the National Association of REALTORS®. One economist with the association described the decrease as disappointing.
Vika O’Grady, a market research adviser for the Austin Board of Realtors, said some sellers are adjusting prices or making concessions to have their homes sold. It’s a trend that is also being seen in other major cities like Dallas, San Antonio and Houston, where sellers are still holding on to a higher price.
2. Federal Judge orders Trump administration to return college student to U.S.

U.S. District Judge Richard Stearns gave the administration until February 27th to return Any Lucia Lopez Belloza to the U.S., just weeks after the government apologized for their “mistake” in deporting the Babson College freshman in violation of a court order. Lopez Belloza had been living in the U.S. with her family since she was a child.
