County officials held a press conference Monday morning in Channelview to announce the abatement of a long-standing nuisance property following repeated safety concerns and multiple fires.

Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia will be joined by Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez and Harris County Public Health.

Officials say the demolition is part of a $500,000 Precinct 2 investment aimed at addressing dangerous properties and improving public safety. The Channelview site is the first property to be removed using the new funding.

The effort is part of Precinct 2’s Keep2Clean initiative, which encourages community involvement in maintaining clean and safe neighborhoods.
