CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Bishop of the Diocese of Corpus Christi will celebrate Ash Wednesday Mass on Feb. 18 at noon at Sacred Heart Church.
Bishop Mario A. Avilés will lead the 12:05 p.m. Holy Mass at the church located at 1322 Comanche Street in Corpus Christi.
The Mass is open to the public.
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a 40-day season of prayer, fasting, and preparation leading up to Easter.
The diocese stated the period commemorates the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ on Good Friday and his Resurrection on Easter Sunday.
Lent concludes with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday, followed by Good Friday services and the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday. Church officials encourage parishioners across the diocese to check their local parish websites for additional Ash Wednesday Mass times.
