CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coastal Bend Blood Center (CBBC) is urging the community to donate blood this Valentine’s season as supplies face seasonal challenges.

CBBC said from Feb. 14 through Feb. 28, donors will receive a free box of Girl Scout Cookies and a T-shirt, while supplies last.

Blood center officials say February is typically one of the most challenging months to maintain an adequate blood supply, due to fewer donations and increased accidents and trauma cases.

The two-week promotion is designed to encourage donations during this critical period.

Michelle Mathis, a donor recruiter with the Blood Center, said the incentive is meant to thank donors while also supporting the Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas. She noted that each donation can help save multiple lives across the Coastal Bend.

Blood transfusions are essential for trauma patients, people undergoing surgery, and those receiving ongoing medical treatments.

Donors are encouraged to schedule appointments, though walk-ins are welcome at all donation locations.
