EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — As Halloween quickly approaches, downtown El Paso is set to host its first-ever Fright Fest Block Party at San Jacinto Plaza on Saturday.

The celebration will feature live music, local vendors, and community activities for families to enjoy.

Additionally, the event marks a special milestone for The Roulettes, a local band who are celebrating their 10th anniversary and the release of their first original album.

KFOX14/CBS4 spoke with organizers of the event and members of The Roulettes, Juan Flores and José Luis Ibave, about what people can expect if they attend the celebration.

Flores, lead singer of The Roulettes, said the event is not just to celebrate their album but to provide a music celebration and Halloween event for the community.

“We’ve always talked about doing a Halloween sort of showcase with our music, but we’ve just decided to do something to celebrate the debut of the album, and it just happened to coordinate with the album and Halloween,” Flores said.

Ibave, lead guitarist, added, “The band started in 2015/2016, so we became an original band not too long ago, and we quickly got signed to a label, so we decided to celebrate the fact that we’ve been a band for that long and release our first material through the label. We’ve always loved Halloween, and we realized no Halloween-themed festivals were going on in El Paso, and we wanted to bring that.”

Fright Fest also aims to support the community, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Make-A-Wish, The Humane Society of El Paso, and MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving).

“These nonprofits are near and dear to our hearts,” event organizer Corina Rosales explained. “We see the need here in our community, and it was important to us to support organizations that make a real difference.”

The event will feature a hyper-local lineup, costumes, food, and art vendors, celebrating the unique aspects of El Paso.

The all-ages family affair will also include trick-or-treating for kids from 5 pm-8 pm.

“We’re proud to highlight local musicians, artists, and creatives. Whether you love live music, great food, or community events, there’s something for everyone,” Rosales added.

Tickets can be purchased online here starting at $25. Kids 12 and under are free.
