Several city of Allen projects are moving forward, with one on track to be completed this spring.
Director of Engineering Chris Flanigan gave a presentation updating members of Allen City Council and city staff on seven projects that are part of the city’s Capital Improvement Plan at a Feb. 10 meeting.

1. Police department headquarters
Project: The new 103,000-square-foot, three-story facility building will be “dried in” in early summer, which means the majority of the remaining work is focused on the interior, Flanigan said.Timeline: The project is expected to take two years to complete, with an anticipated opening in early 2027, per the city’s website.2. City Hall front entranceProject: The scope of the project includes replacing the original front steps, adding a ramp for accessibility and updating the surrounding landscaping, per city documents.Timeline: The project is on schedule and is estimated to be completed April 15, Flanigan said.3. US 75 beautification projectProject: The project will replace aging and dying landscaping, upgrade irrigation, install new decorative rock and fix erosion on the slopes at Bethany Drive, McDermott Drive and Stacy Road intersections along US 75, according to the city’s website.Timeline: Flanigan said this project is expected to go to bid in April. Construction will begin soon after.4. Highway Safety Improvement PlanProject: The project focuses on improving road safety by upgrading traffic signals, adding turn lanes and installing better detection technology with a $4.6 million grant from the Texas Department of Transportation through its Highway Safety Improvement Plan.Timeline: Work has been completed on all intersections except Century Parkway and Bethany Drive, Greenville Avenue and Bethany Drive and Greenville Avenue and Main Street, Flanigan said.5. Oak Hill neighborhood water line replacementProject: The repair and replacement of existing water and sanitary sewer lines are ongoing efforts of systematic maintenance and operation of utility infrastructure, according to city documents.Timeline: The city anticipates awarding a construction bid for the project in April, Flanigan said.6. 2026 streets and alleys maintenanceProject: Each year, the city spends money on improvement and maintenance of streets, thoroughfares, alleys, sidewalks, bridges and other public ways, according to the city’s website.Timeline: The 2025 contract is wrapping up, and a new contract for 2026 street repairs is set to go before council at a Feb. 24 meeting, Flanigan said.Learn more
