High school students from Austin, Hutto, Hays and Pflugerville gathered on Presidents’ Day for a peaceful protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement, marching from Austin City Hall to the Texas Capitol. Carrying signs and chanting as they moved through downtown, the students began their demonstration at 1 p.m., walking straight up Congress Avenue toward the Capitol grounds.

The Presidents’ Day rally drew students from multiple Central Texas districts who said they wanted their voices heard on immigration enforcement policies. Organizers planned the route to run directly along Congress Avenue, one of Austin’s main thoroughfares, culminating at the Capitol, where participants intended to continue their demonstration. The march remained focused on raising awareness and expressing concerns about ICE policies while drawing attention from residents, lawmakers and visitors in the heart of the city.
