A man was arrested in connection with the death of a 21-year-old Sunday afternoon in Dallas’ Red Bird neighborhood, according to a statement from Dallas police.

Officers responded to a call for service around 12:59 p.m. in the 1100 block of Holly Glen Circle and found a man, later identified by police as Randy-Xsavious Ashley, dead at the location.

Investigators determined he had been shot by Reunterio Smith, 40, the statement said.

Smith was arrested and now faces a murder charge. As of Monday, he remained in the Dallas County jail with no bail amount set. It remains unclear whether Smith has an attorney.

Police said Ashley and Smith knew one another but did not publicly release the nature of their relationship. Investigators also did not immediately disclose a motive for the shooting.
