EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — The El Paso Symphony Orchestra will bring Prokofiev’s symphonic fairytale “Peter and the Wolf” to the Plaza Theatre next month to celebrate Downtown Kids Music Day.

The performance, which is part of a partnership with the Youth Opera of El Paso and La Nube to celebrate Downtown Kids Music Day, will feature narration and character portrayals by the Youth Opera of El Paso.

According to the EPSO, “Peter and the Wolf” performance will take place on Saturday, March 7, at 1:30 p.m. at the Plaza Theatre.

The classic story follows a young boy named Peter as he ventures into the forest, where he befriends a bird, a duck, and a cat. Together, they encounter a wolf, with each character represented by different instruments in the orchestra.

The cast includes Ellie Kaufmann as Peter; Sianne Sanchez as the Bird; Karen Maynez as the Duck; Perla Feuille as the Cat; Juan Pablo Anchondo as the Grandfather; Sophia Madrid as the Wolf; and Miller K. Colquitt and Sienna Schwartz as the Hunters, and Benjamin Wallis will serve as narrator.

Tickets are on sale now. General admission is $11, with $6 tickets for children ages 3 to 12.

Tickets can be purchased at the EPSO website or Ticketmaster.

Families can receive same-day discounted admission of $15 to La Nube with proof of purchase of “Peter and the Wolf” tickets.

In addition, the Youth Opera of El Paso will present “A Note of Explanation” in the Philanthropy Theatre from March 6 to March 8, with four performances.
