BRACKETVILLE, Texas – A traffic stop in Kinney County led to the arrest of a San Antonio woman on human smuggling charges and the recovery of two young children.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a DPS trooper pulled over a black Cadillac XT5 on U.S. 90 and discovered four undocumented immigrants inside the vehicle: an adult man from Honduras, an adult woman from Belize and two children, ages 6 and 8, also from Belize.
The man told authorities he paid $10,000 to be smuggled into the United States and was headed to Florida. The woman and the two children had reportedly been staying at a house while waiting for transportation to San Antonio.
The driver, identified as Georgina De Hoyos of San Antonio, was arrested and charged with four counts of human smuggling.
The children were reported to be safe.
