LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – After a 31-point, 13-rebound performance in a 78-75 overtime win Saturday at then- No. 1 Arizona, Texas Tech forward JT Toppin is once again named the “Big 12 Player of the Week”- his fourth time to earn the honor since the start of conference play.
This weekend, Toppin became the first to post 30+ points and 10+ rebounds against the No. 1 team in the Associated Press since Luke Maye of North Carolina did so against Duke in 2019.
During Wednesday’s night game against Colorado, the Dallas-native registered 16 points, but posted a season-high 18 rebounds in the 78-44 win. Days later at the McKale Center, Toppin took control in overtime and added on eight more points as the Red Raiders held on for the victory.
No. 13 Texas Tech is staying in the Grand Canyon State and will face Arizona State Tuesday night. Tip-off scheduled for 10 p.m. CT.
