Michael Benson Spruill of Arlington, Texas passed away on February 16, 2026 at 75 years old. He was born on January 15, 1951 to parents Carl M. and Hazel L. Spruill in Dublin, Texas. Mike was raised in Arlington, attending Maxie Spear Elementary, Nichols Junior High and graduating from Arlington High School in 1969. His senior year at AHS, he served as the Student Council President and the student body named him Mr. AHS. Mike began his coaching career at the age of 15, teaming up with his brother Butch. After graduating from UTA, his career led him to coach many football, baseball, soccer, and track teams beginning with the opening of Shackelford Junior High and then later at Lamar High School. His leadership made a huge impact on hundreds of students lives which was recognized in May of 2025 by the Arlington Athletics Hall of Honor Foundation with the Tom Cravens Impact Award.
