The social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, appeared to be experiencing widespread disruptions Monday morning, with tens of thousands of users reporting problems accessing the app.
At around 7:30 a.m. CT, the outage-tracking site Downdetctor received a spike in reports that X was down. In the hour following, more than 100,000 users made reports. By 8:30 a.m., the service had largely been restored.
The disruptions were reported across the United States, with clusters of complaints coming from major metro areas including Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston, with Austin being slightly less visible on the heat map.
It was not immediately clear what caused the outage. X had not publicly commented as of mid-morning.
