The Miami Dolphins have made a few significant moves today, and one of them was releasing Bradley Chubb. With that being the case, it would make sense for the Dallas Cowboys to pursue him in free agency.
*Prediction*
Later on, Miami would end up releasing Tyreek Hill, but the day started with the Chubb news. Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN broke down the situation.
“The Miami Dolphins are releasing linebacker Bradley Chubb, a source confirmed to ESPN…He also represented a $31 million cap hit in 2026, turns 30 years old in June and has torn his ACL in both knees during his eight-year NFL career.”
It’s not as if Chubb had an awful season in 2025 by any means. In fact, he had 8.5 sacks.
The problem is that following a 7-10 season, Miami needs to get younger. At 29 years old, Chubb simply doesn’t help them do that.

Why the Dallas Cowboys Should Sign Bradley Chubb
It’s not a huge secret that the Cowboys need some pass-rush help after trading away Micah Parsons last year.
In 2025, Dallas ranked 22nd in sacks per game at 2.1. Their sack leader (8.5) was Jadeveon Clowney, but he’s now 33 years old and also a free agent.
Although Donovan Ezeiruaku only had two sacks last year, the Cowboys spent pick No. 44 of the 2025 NFL Draft on him, and he has the talent to be much better in 2026.
The problem is that the Cowboys are in a spot where they can win right now. Despite allowing the most PPG in the NFL (30.1), Dallas went 7-9 last year. This was on the back of an offense that scored the 5th most PPG (27.7) in the NFL.
If the Cowboys can improve their defense to be mediocre, this is a team that could make a serious playoff push.
Now, to be fair, Chubb has played in fewer than eight games in three of his eight NFL seasons. That said, if Chubb can stay healthy and replicate his 2025 production of having 8.5 sacks, he would be a huge boost for this defense.
Bradley Chubb Trade
For those who don’t know, the Dolphins went out of their way to acquire Chubb in a trade back in 2022. Chubb started out his career with the Denver Broncos, where he was fantastic.
As a rookie, Chubb had 12 sacks, and in eight games with Denver in 2022, he had 5.5 sacks. He was traded to the Dolphins that same season.
Louis-Jacques touched on this as well, explaining that, “The Dolphins sent a first-round pick to the Denver Broncos in 2022 in exchange for Chubb and immediately signed him to a five-year, $110 million extension.”
As soon as Chubb joined the Dolphins for the rest of the 2022 season, he had just 2.5 sacks in eight games.
Bradley Chubb Stats
Now, to be fair to Chubb, he had a good season in 2023, but it still didn’t top his sack total from when he was a rookie. In fact, Chubb has never been able to get over 12 sacks in a season.
Even so, in 2023, Chubb had 11 sacks, six forced fumbles, 73 tackles, and 22 quarterback hits.
At the end of the day, this move will likely come down to how much money Bradley Chubb wants. If it’s a reasonable amount, it’s a move the Dallas Cowboys should make.
