The third North Texas location will open on Feb. 18
One of Dallas’ most beloved fried chicken joints is about to make some noise up north. Mike’s Chicken — known for its crispy, no-nonsense tenders and loyal following — is opening its first Collin County location in Plano on Feb. 18.
Founded in 2014, Mike’s Chicken built a loyal fan base with two popular Dallas locations, one on Maple Avenue in Oak Lawn and another near Forest Lane. Now, the restaurant is heading out of Dallas.
The newest restaurant will be located at 3345 E. President George Bush Highway, near the corner of Renner Road and SH 190, and will operate daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
A Big Step Beyond Dallas
The Plano outpost marks a milestone for the family-owned brand. While Mike’s Chicken has built a strong reputation in Dallas, this expansion is its first move outside the city limits. A third location is also currently in development.
The growth comes as the restaurant continues to gain national attention. In 2025, it earned a spot on Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S., reinforcing its status as a must-visit spot for comfort food fans.
Simple Menu, Serious Following
Mike’s Chicken has made its name by focusing on straightforward, flavor-first cooking. The menu centers on crispy tenders, wings, sandwiches and customizable bowls, paired with classic sides like mashed potatoes, fries, creamed corn and mac and cheese.
Its approach is intentionally simple: chicken is marinated in-house and fried fresh to order, a formula that has helped turn the once-small local shop into a regional favorite.
With its Plano debut, the restaurant is poised to introduce a whole new wave of North Texas diners to the crispy tenders that built its reputation.
