City Manager Rodger Wayne Brown was arrested Tuesday in Austin, Texas, according to authorities. Jail records show that no bond has been set at this time.

CLYDE, Texas — The City of Clyde announced Tuesday that City Manager Rodger Wayne Brown has been arrested, according to a statement posted by Mayor Stephen Steele on the city’s official Facebook page.

Jail records from Travis County show Brown was arrested around 1 a.m. by the Austin Police Department and booked into the Travis County Jail on a charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon in a prohibited place. As of Tuesday afternoon, no bond had been set for his release.

In his statement, Mayor Steele said the city is aware of the arrest and is addressing the matter internally.

“We want to assure the public that this matter is being treated as a personnel issue,” Steele said. “The City is currently investigating the situation, and at this time, no further comments will be made.”

City officials did not provide additional details about the circumstances surrounding the arrest.

Brown has served as Clyde’s city manager since 2023, according to city records.
