DENTON, Texas – UAB women’s basketball (10-15, 3-10 American) dropped a road contest at North Texas (15-11, 9-5 American), falling 84-54 on Tuesday night at The Super Pit.

Molly Moffitt led the Blazers with 15 points while adding 10 rebounds for a double-double. Sofia Munoz recorded 12 points on the night. 

The Mean Green were led by Aysia Proctor who registered 22 points while Megan Nestor followed behind with 16 points and 14 rebounds.

Moffitt led UAB with 15 points and 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season and her 10 rebounds were a season-high. 
Munoz added 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting performance. 
The Blazers shot 40 percent from the field, 29 percent from the perimeter and 25 percent at the line. 
North Texas shot 42 percent from the field, 30 percent from the three and 79 percent at the line. 
The Mean Green controlled the boards 45-34 and held the lead for most of the game. 
The Blazers scored 24 points in the paint and 14 bench points. 

How It Happened 


Moffitt score inside and in transition to help UAB match UNT possession-for-possession [8-8]. 
Eleecia Carter was able to tie the game again with a jump shot outside the paint [16-16].
A late three from Cali Smallwood kept the Blazers close [21-19]. 
UAB used 53 percent shooting in the first to stay withing striking distance. 
The Green and Gold were able to hold on defensively and North Texas carried a narrow lead heading into the second quarter [21-19]. 
The Mean Green opened the period with a quick scoring burst fueled by turnovers and transition play [27-21]. 
Proctor and Nestor scored repeatedly in the paint to extend the lead to double digits [36-25].
UAB struggled offensively, shooting 36 percent in the quarter [38-30]. 
A late North Texas basket pushed the halftime margin to 12 [42-30]. 
UNT capitalized on offensive rebounds and second chance looks to stretch the lead to 20 [55-35].
The Blazers found some offense from Munoz but could not string together stops [59-38].
The Blazers were limited to 11 points in the period. 
North Texas held a 20-point advantage heading into the final quarter [61-41]. 
The Mean Green opened the frame with a fast-break score and continued to attack the inside [68-44]. 
UAB struggled to convert late opportunities as UNT maintained control of the boards and tempo [78-44]. 
North Texas closed out the game for an 84-54 final.
