1. Major business park looks to increase industry in Buda

A new industrial development space in Buda is available to local firms looking to expand and regional operators hoping to set up shop in Central Texas.

At a glance

Tower Business Park, located in Buda’s extraterritorial jurisdiction, offers flexible leasing configurations across its six buildings totaling 64,241 square feet.

The development will target growth in key sectors including advanced manufacturing, aerospace and defense, and Knowledge-Intensive Business Services, or KIBS.

2. 101-acre Kyle development to bring retail, housing and 800 jobs

Kyle officials broke ground on a 101-acre mixed-use project Feb. 4, bringing an estimated 800 full-time jobs, retail stores, restaurants, housing and green space to the city’s east side.

The big picture

The development will bring approximately 450,000 square feet of commercial space to the east side of Kyle, with over 20 confirmed tenants, according to city officials.

The development will include over 400 multifamily apartment units as well as public access green spaces designed for events, dining and recreational activities.

The development will bring in an anticipated $2.5 million in sales tax revenue and $1 million in property tax revenue annually.

3. Buda business park to be completed in March

A Buda business park project spanning more than 55,000 square feet is set to be completed in March.

In a nutshell

Lone Star Business Park is a three-building development offering units between 1,800 and 28,000 square feet. The development features a maximum potential of 28 suites and will offer large glass storefronts and roll-up doors, according to a news release.

Officials said prospective tenants can reach out to reserve a desired unit ahead of the business park’s completion.

4. $3.4M Kyle Skatepark to open mid-year

Kyle’s all-abilities skate park is on track to roll into the ranks when it opens as the fifth-largest skate park in Texas later this year.

What’s happening

Funded through a 2020 Kyle bond and a $500,000 contribution from Hays County, the $3.4 million project will offer recreation for everyone from skateboarders, rollerbladers and cyclists to scooter riders, wheelchair users and more.

When it opens this summer, city officials noted the park will be the fifth-largest of its kind and one of five statewide to feature an all-wheels design.
