A Delta Airlines plane is serviced at Sarasota-Bradenton International airport in Sarasota, Fla., Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
A man on a Delta Airlines flight was detained at Houston’s Hobby Airport early Wednesday after “exhibiting unruly and unlawful behavior” toward other customers and the flight crew, according to a spokesperson for the airline.
Houston Police Department spokesperson Shay Awosiyan said it received a call at about 5:35 a.m. because “someone tried to breach a cockpit.” A man was subsequently detained at the airport, he said.
The Delta spokesperson said the airline “can confirm that the customer approached crew and customers but did not make contact with or attempt to access the flight deck.”

There were a total of 85 customers and three crew members on Delta flight No. 2557, according to the airline, which said the flight later departed and was scheduled to arrive in Atlanta about 90 minutes behind schedule. Online flight information shows the plane landed in Atlanta at about 8:45 a.m. Central time.
“The safety of our customers and crew is paramount, and Delta has zero tolerance for unruly behavior,” the airline spokesperson said. “We apologize to our customers for this experience and delay in their travels.”
Awoyisan said no injuries were immediately reported by responding police officers. He also said no other information about the man who was detained was immediately available.
The Houston Airports System confirmed a Delta flight was involved but otherwise deferred comment to the airline and HPD.
