Texas anti-gang center opens in Lubbock to boost statewide law enforcement cooperation

  • February 18, 2026

LUBBOCK, Texas (KLTV) – The new Texas Anti-Gang Center is now open in Lubbock, creating a centralized location for law enforcement agencies to collaborate and combat violent crime across the Lone Star State.

The new facility brings several branches of law enforcement under one roof, including the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, the Lubbock Police Department, DPS, the Department of Homeland Security, the ATF and the DEA.

The state-funded center started operations in 2018. Since then, multiple agencies have worked together to solve gang-related crimes, but those collaborations happened at each agency’s home base. This new site lets collaborations begin early, so law enforcement can quickly identify gang members, track gang networks and curb gang activity.

Lubbock County donated land for the project, and the center’s construction was funded by a grant from the governor’s office. The new building includes a briefing room large enough to accommodate all agencies, plus meeting rooms and space for each agency’s equipment. The center will also have a prosecutor and an investigator from the district attorney’s office in-house full time.

The teamwork doesn’t stop there; officials say tips from the public are a critical part of the center’s success.

If you would like to submit an anonymous tip, call Texas Crime Stoppers at 903-597-2833. You can also call your local police department or make a report through its online tip form.
