Here’s what you need to bring to the polls on Tuesday, March 3.

AUSTIN, Texas — With Election Day just a few weeks away, Texans might be wondering what form of identification they need to bring in order to cast a ballot. 

These are the types of identification you can take to the polls on Tuesday, March 3. 

Texas Driver License issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPSTexas Handgun License issued by DPSTexas Personal Identification Card issued by DPSU.S. Citizenship Certificate containing the person’s photographU.S. Military Identification Card containing the person’s photographU.S. Passport (book or card)

Anyone without a Texas Driver License, passport or any other type of identification mentioned can still cast their ballots by bringing a copy or original version of: 

Bank statementCurrent utility billGovernment checkCertified domestic (from a U.S. state or territory) birth certificate or a document confirming birth admissible in a court of law which establishes the voter’s identity (which may include a foreign birth document)PaycheckGovernment document that shows the voter’s name and an address, including the voter’s voter registration certificate

By providing one of these documents, voters can complete a “Reasonable Impediment Declaration.” 

Voters must register in advance in order to cast their ballot in the upcoming March election, as Texas does not permit same-day registry. 

You can then check if your area is part of the Countywide Polling Place Program (CWPP). If so, you can vote at any polling spot. If not, you must vote at an assigned polling location. 

Polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. statewide on March 3.

Note: Voters in Williamson County must cast ballots at assigned voting spots after a change was made by the county’s Republican Party. During early voting, any countywide polling location will accept ballots.Â
