Corpus Christi churchgoers received ashes on their foreheads on Feb. 18 in observance of Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the 40-day Lenten season in the Christian calendar.
Many churches in Corpus Christi held services for the holy day, and some offered “ashes to go” for people unable to spend their morning at Mass.

First United Methodist Church was one institution offering the services, which allowed drivers to swing by to receive ashes and blessings.
