Stony Point had a huge “dig party” home-court win over Vandegrift 25-22, 17-25, 25-23, 25-18 as the Tigers recorded 90 digs against the defending district champion Vipers. The win gave the Tigers a sweep of Vandegrift in two district meetings for the first time since 2017.
Meanwhile, Round Rock won its 10th straight match, and Westlake had its biggest win of the season when the Chaps beat nationally-ranked and District 26-6A-leading Austin High in dramatic fashion, winning the fifth set 15-12. And Cedar Park, Anderson and Georgetown all won to remain in first place in their Class 5A districts while Wimberley and Lago Vista lead Class 4A districts with two weeks left in the regular season.

Central Texas update: around Class 6A
A big win for Stony Point: Stony Point got a huge performance from Taliah Angwekwe, who had 19 kills, four blocks and nine deflections, while Iyanna Herzog had 32 digs and 14 kills, in the win over Vandegrift. “After we lost the second set and got down in the third set, our bench really came alive and the energy got picked up on the court and really was the key to our winning the third and fourth sets,” said Tigers coach Julie Miler. … Vandegrift’s Jenna Hehman slammed 28 kills while Audrey Hedlund had 14 and Naina Rao added 10.

Dragons win 10th straight: In other District 25-6A action, Round Rock won its 10th straight match by beating Vista Ridge 21-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-15 behind Brooklyn Bradley’s 14 kills, Alta Wilson’s 13, Isa Cordaway-Dreier’s 25 digs and Nila Beauchamp’s 30 assists. … Westwood beat Hutto 25-16, 25-19, 22-25, 25-14 as Grace McCluskey had 12 kills and Piper Evans had 10. Dakota Hodge had 26 digs and Lila Wellington had 24 assists for the Warriors.
Westlake’s sister act: Westlake’s 26-24, 12-25, 26-24, 19-25-15-12 upset of Austin High was fueled by the Kelly sisters — Chloe Kelly, a senior, pounded 18 kills and had 23 digs while Clayton Kelly, a sophomore, had seven kills, 14 digs and 23 assists. The Chaps changed up tactics throughout the match against the taller Maroons, who were pressed into ball-handling miscues at crucial points in the first, third and fifth sets. Sunny McWilliams added 34 digs. … Westlake travels Tuesday to Dripping Springs in basically a pride match: the Chaps will be the No. 2 seed in the Division I playoffs behind Lake Travis and the Tigers will be the No. 2 seed in the Division II playoffs behind Austin High.

Anderson rolls: Henley Magee had 21 assists and eight digs as Anderson rolled past Cedar Creek 25-14, 25-14, 25-3. Chloe Frizzell had 14 kills and hit .684 while Izzy Orozco served 13 aces. … McCallum swept Crockett behind Piper Adair’s 14 kills and 15 digs and Lexi Rosenblatt’s 19 assists.

Cedar Park sweeps Hays: Cedar Park swept Hays 25-13, 25-9, 25-11. Mya Cheatum had seven kills, Katelyn Hughes had 11 assists and nine digs and Anna Kurz had 18 digs.
Weiss survives Hendrickson: Weiss had a five-set battle as the Wolfpack outlasted Hendrickson 18-25, 25-21, 25-17, 19-25, 15-11. Freshman setter Ava Jackson had 45 assists for Weiss while Deja Carroll had 20 kills, Rihanna Bryant had 14 and Ashley Go collected 19 digs in the win. … In other district action, Georgetown swept Elgin while East View swept Pflugerville.
Class 4A update
Wimberley swept Long Creek 25-9, 25-14, 25-19 as Trinity Laney had 10 kills and Skylar Herring recorded 16 assists. Ashton Shipman had 18 digs while Jillian Abel had three blocks. Shipman and Laney served three aces each. Lago Vista swept LBJ 25-19, 25-11, 25-10. Liberty Hill Legacy Ranch staged a reverse sweep on Austin Achieve losing 23-25, 23-25 then winning 25-9, 25-13, 15-8.
