AUSTIN, Texas — Police have identified the victim of a homicide that happened off East Rundberg Lane in North Austin on Sunday morning.
According to the Austin Police Department (APD), officers responded to the Gus Garcia Recreation Center around 12:43 a.m. on Feb. 15 after reports of a shooting.
Officers arriving on the scene found 32-year-old Jamal Elijah with gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, Elijah was pronounced dead at 1:07 a.m.
A second man who was also shot was taken to a local hospital and is in a stable condition, APD said.
Investigators believe Elijah was at the recreation center with friends when he was confronted by a group who shot and killed him.
Surveillance video shows people of interest detectives are working to identify.
