TCU Baseball faced UT Arlington in its final game of the Shriners Children’s College Showdown.
Senior Nolan Johnson got the start on the mound for the Horned Frogs, but his outing ended early after he allowed four runs in the first inning.
Sophomore Tyler Phenow came in to relieve Johnson, but the inning was far from over. Phenow found himself in a similar situation, giving up five runs, all unearned.

The UT Arlington Mavericks were making contact early, leaving TCU to battle back from a 9–0 first-inning deficit.
The Horned Frogs responded with three runs in the third and three more in the fourth, cutting the score to 9–6.
Graduate student Rob Liddington homered in the fifth, bringing the Frogs within two runs of tying the game.
TCU held the Mavericks scoreless through five innings, but UT Arlington added two unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth.
The Frogs brought in one final run in the top of the ninth, but it wasn’t enough to complete the comeback.
Both teams finished with 11 hits, but the Mavericks’ early offensive capitalization proved crucial as they secured the 11–8 victory.
