PARMER COUNTY, Texas (KVII) — One person is dead and another was airlifted to Lubbock after a fiery crash between two semis in Parmer County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened on Wednesday at about 9:03 a.m. at State Highway 114 and FM 145, about 10 and a half miles north of Muleshoe.

The preliminary investigation determined that a 2020 Kenworth truck tractor towing a semi-trailer, driven by Wilnick Saint-Paul, 46, of Naples, Fla., was eastbound on FM 145 and approaching the stop sign at the intersection with SH 214.

Meanwhile, a 2014 Peterbilt truck tractor and semi-trailer, driven by Juan Soliz, 30, of Hereford, was southbound on SH 114 and approaching the intersection of FM 145.

The Kenworth disregarded the stop sign and hit the Peterbilt on the passenger side. Both semis caught fire and burned.

Soliz was able to get out of the semi he was driving before it became fully engulfed with flames.

Saint-Paul was pronounced dead at the scene.

Soliz was taken by Aerocare to the University Medical Center in Lubbock with serious injuries.
