1. Pflugerville awarded $750K for major water infrastructure improvements
The city of Pflugerville was awarded $750,000 in federal Community Project Funding to support construction of new water infrastructure needed to accommodate continued growth along the SH 45 corridor.
What you need to know
The funding, announced Feb. 6 during a press conference with Mayor Doug Weiss and U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions, will help pay for the design and construction of a 5 million-gallons-per-day pump station and a 1.25 million-gallon ground storage.
2. Portion of Gilleland Creek Trail in Pflugerville to close
As the city of Pflugerville continues work on its Downtown East project, a portion of Gilleland Creek Trail will close to allow construction on future connections to the city hub and the Monarch Recreation Center.
Overview
The trail is expected to close Feb. 17 and last for approximately one year. While the trail is closed, the city will install signage for a detour that will add about 1,000 feet, or 0.2 miles, to the route.
3. Seven candidates file for two Hutto City Council seats
The filing period has closed for Hutto’s upcoming City Council election, with multiple candidates entering the races for two seats that will appear on the May ballot.
Place 1 and Place 4 on City Council will be up for election May 2.
4. Hutto to begin work on downtown parking project Feb. 17
The city of Hutto will begin reshaping the downtown area Feb. 17, when crews begin updating signage and restriping East Street in an effort to expand parking.
The gist
The new signage and road stripes will be installed as the city prepares to transition East Street to a one-way road beginning March 5. The change is part of phase 1 of the project to expand downtown parking from 141 spaces to over 400 spaces.
