LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — Several power outages left over 10,000 people in Las Cruces without electricity on Wednesday morning after crews replaced a transformer.

According to the El Paso Electric power outage map, dozens of outages were recorded in Las Cruces, most of them near E. Amador Avenue and N. Main Street.

The map legend said the outages started at around 9: 30 a.m., expected power to be restored at around 1:45 p.m.; however, by 10:15 a.m. power had been restored.

An EP Electric spokesperson said the outage was caused by a failing voltage transformer at one of the Las Cruces substation.
