HOUSTON, United States (MNTV) – A man allegedly approached a group of Muslims praying in a park in Plano, Texas, shouting Islamophobic slurs and calling Islam a “disgusting fake religion,” while telling worshippers they would “go to hell.”

The incident, captured on video, has raised concerns within the local Muslim community about rising hostility and the safety of those exercising their constitutional right to practice their faith.

The Texas chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) called on elected officials to condemn what it described as bias-motivated harassment.

Community members say the incident comes amid what they view as a broader smear campaign by certain Texas leaders targeting Muslims and Islam.

In a statement, CAIR-DFW Executive Director Mustafaa Carroll said no one should be “harassed, threatened, or intimidated for peacefully practicing their faith,” adding that public fearmongering about Islam creates an environment where such incidents become more likely.
