A North Texas figure skating coach was arrested on charges of sexual assault and indecency with a child, Allen police said in a statement Wednesday.

Police arrested Benjamin Shroats at his home Tuesday evening, according to the statement.

Officers began investigating Sunday after a report was filed alleging that Shroats engaged in inappropriate behavior with two of his athletes. One of the relationships reportedly began while the individual was still a minor, the statement said.

The Dallas Morning News contacted the Collin County district clerk’s office on Wednesday for documents detailing the incident but did not immediately receive them.

As of Wednesday evening, Shroats was being held at the Collin County detention facility with a bail of $200,000, according to jail records.

Articles from recent years list Shroats as a previous coach for Amber Glenn, a 2026 Olympic Games team event gold medalist from Plano.

Shroats’s arrest follows two other incidents where North Texas employees were fired or arrested for alleged inappropriate behaviors with minors.
