The Statesman CAP10K will look a little bit different this year as leadership announced improvements to its registration platform ahead of the April 12 event. Here’s what that means for participants.

Race Director Christopher Thilbert laid out the changes in a press release sent out on Wednesday. “As we prepare for an upcoming anniversary year, I want to take am moment to share something exciting about where we’re headed,” he said. “With Hearst’s ownership of CAP10K comes meaningful investment in the future of this race.”

Hearst acquired the Austin American-Statesman from Gannett Co. in Feb. 2025. The Statesman CAP10K, which the newspaper established back in 1978 and has grown into one of the state’s largest in the decades since, came along with the deal.

That investment in the race infrastructure will come along with changes ahead of this year’s April 12 contest. Thilbert said an upgraded registration platform that will allow for a smoother corral assignment process, faster and more accurate results, improved repeat runner tracking, enhanced race-day communication, and a more seamless overall experience.

“CAP10K has always been ‘the race for everyone,'” Thilbert wrote. “What Hearst brings is the infrastructure, innovation, and long-term commitment to ensure that tradition continues—and evolves—for decades to come.”

The race’s presenting sponsor is Baylor Scott & White Health. Other sponsors include Covert Bastrop Chevrolet, H-E-B, Smart Water, Sustainable Food Center, Orange Theory Fitness, Bloom, C4 Energy, Gold’s Gym, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, and Michelob ULTRA.
