AUSTIN, Texas — Austin police have identified the driver killed in the crash involving a passenger vehicle and an 18-wheeler early Saturday morning.

Officers responded to the crash at 4:18 a.m. Saturday morning in the 13200 block of the South I-35 service road going southbound.

Police say that 22-year-old Xochitl Garcia Ramos was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second driver remained on scene, was not impaired, and is cooperating with the investigation, police say.

The deadly crash is being investigated as Austin’s 12th of the year, resulting in 12 fatalities in 2026.
