Wildfires should be a greater threat Thursday, with the biggest risk for counties to the northwest.

Montague, Jack and Wise counties will be under a red flag warning from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.,warning residents a wildfire is likely to rapidly spread if started. The National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office has forecast relative humidity as low as 13% in those counties.

Dallas-Fort Worth, as well as counties to the north and west, will also be at risk for wildfire development. Wind gusts are expected to be over 20 mph with low humidity across the area.

Afterwards , cooler air is forecast to reach D-FW. The high should fall in the upper 60s Friday before dropping further to the upper 50s by Sunday. A slight chance of rain will be present Saturday morning as cold fronts roll through.
