PRINCETON, Texas — A Collin County man will serve life in prison for abusing and starving his six young children, officials said.Â
Kevin Dixon, 28, was sentenced to life in prison for seven counts of injury to a child, causing serious bodily injury, Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis said in a statement. He is accused of abusing and starving his six children, some of whom were as young as two years old.Â
In 2021, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services found that Dixon was not providing a safe environment for his children and warned him against excessive discipline, the statement reads.Â
However, in Feb. 2025, family and protective services contacted the family again and found that five of his children, all under the age of ten, had marks, scars and appeared severely malnourished, officials said. The children also weighed far less than what is normal for their age, officials found.Â
The Princeton Police Department then launched an investigation into the father and interviewed the children, who described severe physical abuse and neglect. The children said Dixon deprived them of food and repeatedly hit them with belts and cords, officials said. One child was beaten for taking a candy bar, the statement reads.Â
Dixon, who was previously convicted of robbery in 2015, Â pleaded guilty to five counts involving physical abuse and two counts involving malnourishment, officials said. Due to his prior felony, Dixon faced 15 to 99 years or life for each count of abuse, the DA said.Â
He was sentenced to live in prison for the five counts of felony abuse and 25 years in prison for the two counts of malnourishment.Â
“This father brutally beat and starved his own young children — some toddlers — leaving permanent scars and lasting trauma, Willis said after the sentencing. “My office will always stand up for children that can’t defend themselves.”Â
