The two-time GRAMMY-nominated ensemble brings world-class chamber music to St. Andrew Methodist Church
Plano audiences will have the rare opportunity to experience one of the most celebrated string quartets of our time when the Dover Quartet performs on March 22 at St. Andrew Methodist Church.
The afternoon concert will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. in Hasley Chapel at 5801 W. Plano Parkway, with an interactive pre-concert conversation beginning at 2 p.m.
Named one of the greatest string quartets of the last 100 years by BBC Music Magazine, the Dover Quartet is a two-time GRAMMY nominee known for its technical precision and deeply expressive performances. The ensemble features Joel Link and Bryan Lee on violin, Julianne Lee on viola and Camden Shaw on cello.
A Rare Afternoon Of Chamber Music In Plano
The event will begin with a 45-minute pre-concert conversation, giving guests the chance to hear directly from the musicians about their artistic journeys and careers. The performance will follow, featuring works by Robert Schumann, Felix Mendelssohn and Grażyna Bacewicz.
“We are excited to welcome the community to an afternoon with the Dover Quartet, which represents the highest level of chamber music artistry,” said Taylor Davis, creative director of traditional music and worship at St. Andrew, in an official statement. “Whether you’re a longtime classical music lover or hearing a string quartet live for the first time, you will be drawn into their expressive musicianship and ability to connect with the audience.”
An Ensemble With International Honors
Formed in 2008 at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, the Dover Quartet rose to international prominence in 2013 after sweeping all prizes at the Banff International String Quartet Competition. The group now performs more than 100 concerts annually and serves as faculty ensemble-in-residence at the Curtis Institute of Music.
The quartet has earned numerous accolades, including an Avery Fisher Career Grant, Chamber Music America’s Cleveland Quartet Award and Lincoln Center’s Hunt Family Award. Each member also maintains distinguished individual careers in orchestral, solo and chamber settings.
