SMITHVILLE, Texas — A suspect was arrested for manslaughter in connection with a fatal hit-and-run investigation in Smithville.
Smithville police responded to a call on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Super Donuts on Loop 230, where they found Jimmie Lee Jones unresponsive in the parking lot.

Officers performed CPR until EMS arrived and transported him to a hospital in Austin, where he later died from injuries sustained after being struck by a vehicle.
The investigation led officers to Pflugerville, where the suspect vehicle was located and seized with help from the Travis County Sheriff’s Office.
Ricky James Stevens was taken into custody on Oct. 14 without incident and is being held at the Bastrop County Jail.
