EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — The El Paso Independent School District said police are keeping officers posted at a West El Paso high school despite a false threat.

According to EPISD, Franklin High School received a non-credible threat on Tuesday morning, leading to a serious police response.

Officers from EPISD and the El Paso Police Department, as well as other agencies, responded to the high school and locked it down.

EPISD said that students and staff are safe but added that officers will remain on campus “out of an abundance of caution.”

Furthermore, EPISD said that the district takes all threats seriously and warns that people who make false threats will face disciplinary and legal consequences.

El Paso ISD PD, EPPD, and other law enforcement agencies responded promptly and are on site. Other nearby campuses had been placed on a HOLD protocol out of an abundance of caution.Students and staff are safe, and law enforcement will remain on site out of an abundance of caution.El Paso ISD takes all threats seriously. Any individual found responsible for making false threats will face disciplinary action and may face criminal charges to the fullest extent of the law.
