Since “when-d” has trash and recyclable bin pickup on windy days been a problem in El Paso?

For my entire life in El Paso, we’ve had our bins picked up on the same day, (except holidays) without fail. The snow didn’t matter, the heat didn’t matter, the wind didn’t matter. Until now.

So, what changed? El Paso’s epic winds sure haven’t.

The high winds and horrendous dust storms El Paso experiences every year seem to have arrived early this year. Hopefully Mother Nature’s just testing some new equipment and things will settle back down until the usual BS starts.

No Recyclable Pickup In El Paso

Windy season started early this year and the city announced at the last minute that trash bins would be picked up but not the blue recycling bins.

Recyclable’s no but trash yes? How is one suddenly not ok? If the recyclable drivers wanted the day off, they could have just called in sick and let a temp handle things. Right?

I don’t really care, I mean, it’s … whatever. They’ll come get it later but why is this an issue now? Has the city of El Paso been needlessly risking lives, property and human life for decades?

Did the windy season come as a surprise to the current EP trash administration?

Or, did someone just decide they found a new day off? If that’s the case, they just discovered a new 3 months off because, guess what trash peeps? EP’s windy season typically runs from March/early April – late May/early June and it doesn’t let up. At all.

Why Trash But Not Recyclables?

So, why did the trash staff have to work but not the blue bin picker uppers? Do they have a better union? Somebody sleeping with the boss? Seriously, enquiring minds want to know this stuff.
