LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock residents can expect breezy, sunny, and warm weather through Wednesday evening, with southwesterly winds of 15 to 25 mph lasting until sunset.

Clouds will increase overnight on Wednesday as a warm front develops. Dewpoints are forecast in the lower 50s on the Caprock and upper 50s off the Caprock. Elevated rain showers are possible west of the I-27 corridor, though a dry layer between the surface is expected, which means some rain may not reach the ground. There’s a slight chance of rain showers on the Caprock Thursday morning.

Thursday brings increasing chances for rain showers and thunderstorms across the region. High temperatures will range from the mid-70s in the northwest to the mid-80s in the southeast. Isolated to widely scattered showers and storms are possible Thursday afternoon, with better chances for storms moving in from the west by Thursday evening.

A few storms, both Thursday evening and Friday afternoon, could turn strong to severe. Potential hazards include hail up to the size of quarters and brief, heavy downpours.
