Looks like we get an early windy season this year – yay. We’re not even through February yet and it already blows in El Paso.
El Paso has a pretty intense windy season and this year, Mother Nature is giving us a bonus; firing up her, dust and pollen spreader early ‘cuz, why not?
Who wouldn’t appreciate an extra month or two of coughing, sneezing, messed up hair, chewing sand and tracking down lawn furniture in low visibility? (Read that in a tone dripping with sarcasm.)
El Paso’s windy season usually runs from around April to late May. It can stretch into early June and start as early as mid March or so but I don’t remember it ever kicking off in mid February.
How Windy Does El Paso Get?
PFW – Pretty F’n Windy. We’ll get winds at or near hurricane force speeds with the current record being a gust clocked at 84mph. Meanwhile, about 40 miles from El Paso, there was a gust recorded at 104mph. We have set all kinds of crazy weather records.
