A 27-year-old man who was arrested in connection with a domestic violence-related murder of a woman in Fort Worth earlier this month was previously twice arrested for the assault of two women, including the woman who was slain, records show.

Elijah Jordan Jacobo was arrested in El Paso and is facing murder charges after 26-year-old Talia Sanchez was found dead from “physical force” in the Fort Worth apartment they shared in the 7300 block of Harris Parkway on Feb. 11.

Jacobo was previously arrested in June 2024 for allegedly assaulting a female family member and again in November 2025 for assaulting Sanchez, according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by The Dallas Morning News.

“Both assaults involved Elijah using physical force and documented his willingness to use violence toward women,” the affidavit said.

On Feb. 11, Fort Worth police received a report from Sanchez’s mother about her daughter going missing after she did not show up to work, the affidavit said. She went to Sanchez’s apartment, which she shared with Jacobo, and found her daughter’s car in the parking lot.

No one answered the door. The couple, according to the mother in the affidavit, had two dogs and a young son.

When officers searched the apartment, they found Sanchez’s body on the bed, covered in a blanket, in a state of decomposition, according to the affidavit. The son and the dogs were not in the apartment.

Detectives found that the son was with his paternal grandparents in New Mexico, where Jacobo dropped him off, the affidavit said.

A neighbor told police they heard a loud noise coming from Sanchez’s apartment on Feb. 8, the affidavit said.

Officers observed video surveillance of the apartment complex where Jacobo and Sanchez lived, and found that the couple had argued outside the apartment on Feb. 8, before walking inside together, the affidavit said.

That night and the following day, Jacobo was seen leaving and entering the apartment several times, but Sanchez was not, the affidavit said. He left the final time on Feb. 9, and then officers determined the location of his truck after it was photographed driving near New Mexico and El Paso the next two days.

“The apartment was securely locked and only a person with a key could have locked the apartment,” the affidavit said.

As of Thursday evening, Jacobo remains in El Paso County Jail with a bond set at $500,000, online jail records show.

It was not clear if he has an attorney.
