Guests were evacuated from the Cambria Hotel Austin Downtown after a fire broke out in the laundry room, according to responders.
AUSTIN, Texas — Hundreds of people were evacuated from a Downtown Austin hotel after a small fire sparked late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning.
At around midnight, the Austin Fire Department (AFD) said crews responded to a fire in the laundry room of the Cambria Hotel Austin Downtown, on 68 East Ave. near Interstate 35 and East Cesar Chavez Street.Â
Responders said hotel guests woke up to the sound of fire alarms at around midnight, and that some people had to walk down 10 flights of stairs.Â
The guests were able to return to their rooms at around 1 a.m. Thursday, and AFD said the fire “was contained to a clothes dryer.”Â
No injuries were reported.Â
